Abstract Heavy-duty machine tools are composed of many subsystems with different functions, and their reliability is governed by the reliabilities these subsystems. It important to rank weaknesses identify weakest subsystem optimize products improve reliabilities. However, traditional ranking methods based on failure mode effect critical analysis (FMECA) does not consider complex maintenance products. Herein, a weakness method for heavy-duty proposed generalized FMECA information. In this method, eight indexes, including maintainability cost, considered in Subsequently, cognition best worst used calculate weight each screened index, ranked using technique order preference similarity an ideal solution.
